The Elevator is a popular show jumping and cross-country bit for strong horses because it offers enhanced control and precision.
The Elevator cheeks have a lifting effect on the horse's head, neck and shoulders, while also encouraging the horse to engage his hocks. This makes the horse easier to manoeuvre and can assist with making tight turns. The cheeks also reinforce turning aids, as the shanks press against the horse's face when an aid is given.
The central lozenge and double joint removes the nutcracker effect associated with single-jointed bits, and relieves pressure on the bars of the mouth. Double jointed bits are often suitable for horses with large tongues or small mouths, as the mouthpiece conforms to the shape of the mouth.
We can make this bit with your choice of shank lengths. The most popular are 9in total (4.5in above and 4.5in below the mouth), or 6in total (3in above the mouth and 3in below, as shown here). If you require a different shank length, then please contact us.
Available in mouth sizes 5in, 5.5in or 6in.
